Behind the Scenes with Skinner

Scene: Marlborough MA, Skinner Auctioneers and Appraisers.
Mission: Report back on the utter fabulousity to be found.
Result: See above.
My version of heaven is something akin to the space I was invited to explore a few weeks ago at Skinner. A behind the scenes look at the goodies, the systems, and all the wonderful staffers at one of my favourite Boston institutions.
Let's begin the tour from the top, with the treasures I unearthed in the Discovery Department, now headed by the stylish Cara Elmslie. Why hello there vintage mod Pucci short?! I would seriously plan a trip to Palm Beach around these beauties.
Maybe day-glow Warhol is more your speed? Then stay tuned for the American & European Paintings and Prints sale, coming this February, for this moo-tiful wallpaper screen print of a gorgeous neon bovine. Sorry couldn't resist that one.
Looking for Dior shoes, Chanel bags, and Hermes scarves galore? The Discovery sale can meet the needs of the hardest to shop for person on your holiday list. It's also perfectly timed for December 14 & 15. If you are curious about how to bid with Skinner, check out my informal guide, here.
Quickly following on the heels of the Discovery sale is the 20th Century Design sale, on December 17. My personal highlights (and items to watch for in my living room) are, oh, a Bernard Rohne Mastercraft credenza (have you ever seen such a glam piece of furniture?), an over the top cobra lamp, and a carved wooden bust of the female torso.
It's like I died and went to mid century modern and vintage couture heaven.
