Hosted at Exit Art, Ainsley presented a gorgeous line of muted pastels, floral, tribal, and southwestern influenced prints, for Fall 2012. The space was evocative of an O'Keefe landscape but thoroughly modern.....complete with whiskey on hand to quench your thirst.
Hallmarks of Ainsley's sister brand Qi, were apparent in the gorgeous woven textiles, but this season really set Ainsley apart for me. The line managed to reference all my seventies sweet spots, with knotted secretary tops, high waisted pants, and velvet jackets- part Annie Hall, part prairie girl, definitely timeless. A hard combination to pull off, but a duality that works for the pieces, and speaks to longevity in your wardrobe.
My personal favourites include the suede pant and southwestern maxi button down dress- belted and booted. We have seen a lot of southwestern influenced print these last few seasons but I appreciate the fresh colors and approach with the calf length maxi.
I also adore the longer floral jumpsuit, ankle length this time, part buttoned up boho and part Downton Abbey. The jumpsuit is a gorgeous pastel watercolor print and features a surprise cascading drape of material down the back. Buttoned up in front, party in the back.
Can't wait for these items to get in my closet!
