French Flea Market Boudior

 

When we first bought our new house I had a grand vision of doing a series of in depth posts, room by room, as the design concepts come together, colors are chosen, and pieces purchased. I have been pinning all my decor ideas like crazy and have a board for each room, countless island options, myriad coffee tables, lighting, you name it (my pinterest madness revealed here)- I probably have a board for it. How did I plan anything without pinterest in my life? Some questions are better left unanswered.....

I may not get to every room, as we move next Thursday with the renovation weeks from being complete, but I do think the bedroom has finally been pulled together enough *in theory* to reveal my master plan (or mad plan, as husband refers to it). 

Bedroom: Before

Funny, looking at the photo from the real estate listing, it occurs to me that I have picked literally the same color that was in there originally, for my new shade: Citrus Mist, by Benjamin Moore. It is a warm neutral that will compliment my accent wall, set to be papered in "Captain Smith" hand printed wallpaper by Grow House Grow. Seriously check out Katie Deedy's designs. They are whimsical, colorful and utterly original, complete with a tale about each print on the site. Captain Smith is a sad story about the Captain of the Titanic, with an undersea design created by weaving dumbo octopi, jellyfish and squid together.

I plan to keep the french chairs and screen I scored from the recent European and Decorative Arts sale at Skinner in the bedroom as well, mixing modern elements with the antique, or as I like to call my style: barnyard meets eclectic French flea market. Marry a gilt accent table with deco paper and french design, why not? I am not terribly cohesive in a design sense, but everything is picked out by me, plan or no plan, and I know I will find a way to make it work!

The Camilla chandelier (Pottery Barn) is set to hang in my window alcove, to be framed by the fauteuils. That is, if it ever comes off back order. Pottery Barn gods hear my prayer.

Funky coral lamps, scored recently from TJ Maxx will sit stop the night stands, my first purchase from One King's Lane. Seriously, how good is that site? I went with a classic tufted bed from West Elm, in neutral velvet, which will be capped off by a pair of Jonathan Adler X stands. Probably my favourite purchase yet.

I can't wait to get into the house and see how everything comes together, "after" photos to come soon! Be patient with me over the next few weeks, I am sure to experience internet set up delays, moving mania, and all the fun that goes along with a relocation so the blog will have to take a bit of a backseat.
