Lauren Moffatt S/S 2013

New York Fashion week redux!

The shows, presentations, parties, and oh yes fashion! I kid, I kid. I turn into a pumpkin at 10:00 sharp, perfect for running around all day, loading photos at night.

My first presentation of the season was one of my favourites, Lauren Moffatt. Ms. Moffatt who, like another one of my favourite designers Rachel Comey, is expecting (!).....gave us a sporty, confectionary sweet collection for Spring/Summer 2013 (see how I avoided any analogy for "birthing" a new line there;).

Staged at Open House Gallery in Soho, the models brought game. Tennis to be specific.

Tennis whites, visors and faux grass perches for the models (fitting as the US Open was going on at the same time in the city last week) referenced a time when the game was slightly more refined, genteel, but with Moffatt's signature modern take.  The line was full of florals, piping, sports-jackets, full collars and modest crop tops. Moffatt's inspiration was "a combination of the very classic look of lawn tennis in the '60s, and a colorful city pool." Pulled off with aplomb.

Speaking of the pool, Moffatt also showcased swim wear for 2013, 60's inspired, playful bikinis and one pieces, but still in keeping with her prim and proper inspiration.

What a way to kick things off for the week! Congratulations to Lauren Moffatt, mother to be, and recent inductee into the CFDA on another fabulous collection.
