Emerson Spring 2013

Jackie Fraser-Swan's Spring 2013 collection was inspired by American horror at it's best, think Carrie and Amityville, two movies that scared me well into later life.

How does this work you ask? With splashes of red, splatter print, varsity jackets embroidered with an "E" (in homage to King's classic Carrie of course), with goth make up and trimmings. I am still swooning over the front braids models rocked.

Rough though a horror flick may be, there was still a counter with soft flowy fabric, draping and pastel hues to make sure things didn't get too tough.  You can shop for Emerson locally at Louis, of course, bastion of all things hip.
Another local designer, Sophie Hughes (which I posted on here), sent her lovely jewelry design down the Emerson runway. The simple, structured aesthetic paired perfectly with Fraser-Swan's line.

I am honored and excited to have shared air time with Emerson's designer in a recent episode of Chronicle (Fall Fashion: Fashion Forward). The show explored fashion innovators, trends, goings on in our fine city, and what you needed to buy and know for the season. A total honor and totally fun to have been a part of this with so many people I admire so much.

Musically speaking we were treated to some great tunes for models to strut:

"I Love it" Icona Pop

"Theme for Great Cities" Simple Minds

"Dancing on my own" Robyn

"Fight for your Right" Beastie Boys
